Norman Yamada, PA-C, ATC

Physician Assistant, Certified Athletic Trainer
Mr. Yamada, a native of the Bay Area, graduated from University of California, Davis with a bachelors degree in exercise science with an emphasis in exercise physiology. While there he also completed his internship in athletic training. After UCD, he attended Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi where he obtained his masters of science degree and worked as a graduate assistant athletic trainer. Following Texas he then completed the physician assistant program and received his Masters of Health Science degree from Quinnipiac University in Hamden, CT.
With his background as an athletic trainer, Mr. Yamada brings to this practice his experience with sports medicine, which specializes in prevention, recognizing, managing and rehabilitating injuries that result from physical activity. As a physician assistant he is directly involved in patient care. He assesses and diagnose various orthopedic illnesses, order and interpret lab tests, X-rays, MRI’s, prescribes medications, develop treatment plans and provides patient education. He performs minor surgical procedures such as injections, aspirations, suturing, as well as cast applications. He is involved in surgical care for pre- and post-op visits as well as first assists in various surgical procedures.
The physician-PA team relationship of Dr. Frazier and Mr. Yamada is fundamental to the PA profession and enhances the delivery of high quality healthcare to their patients.
He is certified by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA) and the Board of Certification for Athletic Training (BOC). Currently he is an active member of the American Academy of Physician Assistants (AAPA), California Academy of Physician Assistants (CAPA), Physician Assistants in Orthopedic Surgery (PAOS), and the National Athletic Training Association (NATA).
Mr. Yamada is part of the Allied Health Professional Staff at ValleyCare Medical Center in Pleasanton and San Ramon Regional Medical Center; and has privileges at Tri Valley Outpatient Surgery Center and San Ramon Surgery Center |
