Webster Spine Institute

The spine team at Webster Orthopaedics, the Webster Spine Institute, is dedicated to providing the best surgical and non-surgical care to our pediatric and adult patients with a variety of disorders of the spine. Drs. Peter Slabaugh, Robert Rovner and Vikram Talwar, all fellowship-trained Orthopaedic Spine Surgeons, are proud to be a part of Webster Orthopaedic Medical Group, whose roots go back to 1939.

Spine surgery is challenging. What motivates us? The satisfaction of meeting the challenge for our patients: a hug from a patient no longer in pain, the smile on the child whose scoliosis is corrected. We are committed to providing cutting edge, compassionate, conservative and, when appropriate, surgical care to our children, adult and elderly patients.

The scope of spine care at the Webster Spine Institute includes minimally invasive, outpatient surgery, microsurgery of the spine, scoliosis and spinal deformity correction, complex spinal reconstruction and revision cases. Our patients come to us with cervical, thoracic and lumbar pathology due to injury, degenerative change, congenital conditions, infections and neoplasm.

We serve the East Bay with office locations in Oakland, San Ramon and Livermore and work with most insurance plans and worker compensation carriers.

Spine Surgery

Many patients with back problems can be successfully treated using non-surgical methods, such as physical therapy, medication and activity restrictions. However, some conditions require spine surgery for complete correction.  Types of spinal surgery include stabilizing procedures, decompressive procedures, exploratory procedures, and procedures related to spinal cord stimulators.
