Dr. Viess
has a special interest in sports injuries and recently completed a
fellowship in sports medicine/ trauma at the Lake Tahoe Orthopaedic
Institute.
Dr. Viess is a graduate of Duke University
in Durham, North Carolina. He received his medical degree from Chicago
Medical School, where he was elected to the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor
Medical Society. Originally planning to become a general surgeon, Dr.
Viess completed two years of surgical residency at UCSF before deciding
to go into orthopedic surgery. He completed his orthopaedic residency at
St. Mary’s Hospital in San Francisco in 2004. Dr. Viess has also
participated in several research projects on hip replacement and bone
tumors. Dr. Viess is affiliated with Valley Care Medical Center in
Pleasanton and Valley Memorial Hospital in Livermore. Dr. Viess
is a team physician for Granada
High School.
